Rustic and refined, the English countryside offers a beautiful backdrop for natural colours and exciting textures. Country weddings are great for traditional fabrics while warmer conditions call for pale shades and more casual aesthetics.
Unless otherwise stated, it is not necessary to wear a full suit. You can combine formal blazer or sports jacket with a wool trouser or chino in a different colour, dependent on the season. A reasonably smart blazer, single or double-breasted, will do. Navy blue is a classic that will not let you down but you can confidently pick warmer tones. A tailored grey fine wool trouser or a smart pair of chinos in a neutral tone is best. Your trouser leg should land neatly at the shoe and not gather around the ankle. If you are opting for turn-up cuffs, you may want to consider a more relaxed shoe, such as a loafer. Make sure you wear a button-down shirt, chambray is best - and feel free to leave the neck open, especially in the summer.
Should you decide to wear a tie, go for something plain and knitted and always match it to the pocket square, if there is one. You can contrast your sock colour with your outfit, but make sure that it is still harmonious. If you are in doubt, opt for a classic muted hue such as navy or dark-grey.
